How to braid Short Hair

Last week I received my first How-to type question, fantastic this means there are actual real people reading my ramblings. The Question was ‘Steph how do I braid my short hair?’ Crestfallen I realized I know next to nothing about braiding short hair, but my only reader is relying on me for an answer. So what to do? I could pretend that I never received the question or I thought, naively I could learn all about short hair braiding and then answer the question.

So off I went to Google and typed in “braided hair” and clicked on the first site, which turned out to be braidedimage.com – Karen Ribble’s site all about hair braiding.

Karen who was taught to braid by her mother and maternal grandmother, practiced her technique on her two sisters as she grew up and attributes this as to why she is now such an accomplished braider. She has been braiding professionally for eighteen years and has developed over 100 of her own braids as well as authored a number of excellent books and videos.

As for short hair braids Karen say’s that she can braid hair as long as it is over 3-4 inches.
The below pictures show some of Karen’s short hair Braids.

How to find hair websites or why I like Hairfinder.com

Most people when they want to find something on the Internet will head to one of the big search engines – MSN, Yahoo or Google. These search engines all work in a similar manner, scanning the web sorting what they find and then attempting to rank them for each search term you type into the search box. This is all done automagically by thousands of computers - there are far too many web pages to be sorted by people.
Well what has this got to do with hairstyles? Hang On I’m getting there.. Search engines can’t tell you whether a site is good or bad, interesting or just plain boring, only how likely an article is about a certain topic – and this is where the problem lies. People know this and try to manipulate the search engines into thinking that their site is more relevant than the rest by repeating the same words multiple times - this sometimes/often works so a lot of the sites that search engines like are just plain crappy.
This is obviously a problem, which is why one of the most popular hair websites, that combats this is Hairfinder.com – They find, categorize and review all of the best hair and hairstyle related websites, making it a breeze to find what your looking for. They also have their own galleries and an ever-increasing selection of articles and tips. So popular is Hairfinder that they have branched out into multiple languages including a Dutch language site Kapsels.net.
