A selection of short haircut styles for both men and women, guaranteed to look good. Your best short haircut styles at a glance!
When it comes to short haircut styles, there is a whole gamut of styles out there to choose from. Never out of style, easy to maintain, professional-looking, always fresh and innovative, here are the most popular men’s and women’s short haircut styles at the moment:
Men
Almost shaved, but not quite. Popularized by Brad Pitt a short while back, this short haircut style is a stone’s throw from Vin Diesel’s shave. What makes it different is that the hair is kept slightly longer all around, with the area around the ears super short.
Businessman’s cut. Think Wall Street – the standard short haircut style that looks good at any job interview. The hair is short but still long enough to be parted or combed back in the style that best suits your face.
Crew cut. The king of short haircut styles is the timeless military look, which leaves the hair slightly longer on top, but not more than a fourth of an inch, and tapers off toward the neck and ears.
Side comb. This is not as much a short haircut style as a way of combing your short haircut. Apply gel to your hair, comb your bangs up and then to the side – a cool look, reminiscent of the 1950s.
Women
Bob. Bobs are short haircut styles that turn heads. Today’s bob is slightly asymmetric and has a lot of movement to it, created through choppy layers. Straight hair and bangs make the most dramatic bobs
Crop. Your crop is basically a short hair-chop, done professionally, of course. This short haircut style can look softer with curls or sassier spiked with a dab of gel.
Pixie. The pixie is one of the hottest short haircut styles in salons at the moment. It’s an ultra feminine, all-around short look that has a good deal of spunk to it – especially nice-looking on women with fine facial features and an oval or heart-shaped face.
With all short haircut styles, remember that frequent hair salon maintenance is crucial – every four to six weeks, at the least. If this extra maintenance bothers you, just remember that you’ll be cutting down dramatically on washing and styling time. If you add up all of those minutes, your fairly frequent hour or so at the hairdresser’s will not seem so excruciating. Just take along a favorite magazine and enjoy!
